kawasan falls cebu

hiking along side the running waters of Kawasan is a great walk-in-the-park experience less the sun. i find the area clean and the trail to the falls easy to navigate. no wonder this is a great after-trek spot preferred by those who trekked Osmena Peak.

this walk includes crossing over wooden bridges and under concrete arc. passing by large flat areas with cottages and some souvenir shops. still with  Edwin, Doi and Ed but this time Jerome of balintataw joined us who also came from Manila the night before.
being the most popular waterfalls in the province of Cebu, i expected a large number of tourists there as it was a Sunday but the Pacquiao-Marquez fight would have caused lesser people to be in the area.
the waterfall system of Kawasan is composed of several levels of big basins but there are two larger basins that can accommodate more people including cottages on the side. a bamboo floater brings the people under the falls without the need to swim.

the largest of the two basins is accessible without much uphill walk but will definitely be more occupied on peak season. we chose the one at the higher level which required a short uphill trek.

the best way to enjoy the clear waters is swimming in it but a near tragic experience almost happened when edwin almost drowned due to cramps. we were on the same spot almost under the falls when it happened. i tried to help but i too was loosing strength as we were still meters away from the closest rock. good that just in time ed came on a rescue.

dong how long was the trek to get to the waterfalls?

i think you don't follow pacman if you chose to hike instead of watch his fight.

I am glad that the experience had a good end!

The place is wonderful. I am amazed how well preserved is the trail there. Your photos show us the beauty of the place.

>photocache, hiking took about 20minutes or even less. won't notice the time because of the nice view. hahaha... was just not so excited on that fight.

>gillboard, thanks!

>ardee, yes. it's not necessary specially when you're going there on a weekend as you just need to follow the flow of people. trail is quite good and at some point you'll meet with some locals who can guide you along the way.

>sendo, nice.

>traveling hawk, they did a good job in maintaining the area clean. good that we went home safely after that experience.

>sendo,

Ohno, nakakakilabot.

Ang ganda ng waterfalls. Parang water ng pool yung tubig.

Ingat sa mga byahe, Idol.

Wow! Cute pictures!

My only problem will be how do i take pictures and then swim if i'm going alone? Oh well..... Probably will have to sacrifice great pics again so i could enjoy the falls better :D

good that your friend was saved from being drowned.

and yes, i think you made the right choice of going to this trek and passing up marquez-pacman fight. the latter's so predictable while the former's your passion. saan ka pa?! :D

OMG, that was a close call! Thank God nothing tragic happened. I've been to this falls and I can say it's one of the most beautiful ones I've seen in the country. My only complaint is the resto right beside it. It kinda ruins the view. Would've been nice if it were constructed far from the falls.

>lauren, you can have someone take a shot of you... not when you're swimming though. enjoy your trek to osmena peak.

>docgelo, hahaha... you're right. after the swim we heard about the fight. buti talaga na walang nangyari.

>aj, same here. the structures in the area somehow distracts the beautiful ambiance. god that they did not occupy the greater portion.

>chyng, i will do it in all language. hahaha... dito nga muntik malunod si lakbay at kung napagod ako ng tuluyan malamang ako din.

>borneo, you're right.

>renz, to the first falls yes as i remember it's the second large basin that requires uphill trek.

>tine, you should. lapit lang to sa opeak.

>reena, hahaha... at one point youll feel like you have the entire basin for yourself on those dates. tagala pa ata susunod na fight.

awee i really miss this place! the last time i was here was 5 years ago. hindi kayo nagpunta sa third falls? ang ganda ng view din doon at ang lamig ng tubig ;D pwede rin makapagswimming sa third falls without using a bamboo raft kasi mababaw lang ang depth compared sa dalawang falls.
