everything red gold and a lumpia to crave

red and gold was the most prevalent colors during the Chinese new year in Binondo, even the charms sold on small shops along Ongpin street. continued our food walk using the nice and easy to use Old Manila Walks Big Binondo Food Wok map.a mix Buddhist and Christian tradition can be seen in one of the prominent symbol of Binondo, the Santo Cristo de Longos. venerated by Chinese offering prayers over incense. quite a unique sight.charms of different forms from fishes to peanuts and i'm clueless what each of these items represents. all i know is that they either bring good charm or represent a Chinese icon.dozens of the popular Chinese tikoy were also sold and i notice that most of the people buying were actually not Chinese but Filipinos who i think already consider eating it on a new year as part of their own tradition.we were now on our next stop, the New Po Heng Lumpia house along Quintin Paredes street. famous for its fresh Hookien lumpia. like the dong bei dumplings, this is also highly recommended. unlike the usual fresh lumpia, this one has in it crashed peanuts that adds a good taste. one has the option to have it served with a hot flavor or the usual. let's see how the bloggers rate this.cher - who loves seafoods and crabs gives a [4] for this lumpia.
docgelo - who frequents Binondo yet it's his first time to try this lumpia gave [4].
ann - who likes adobo and pasta gives it a perfect [5] and even bought some to bring home.
josh - who loves spicy food gives [4].
chyng - who likes jelly ace so much also gave a [4] for the lumpia.
dongho - who once missed eating this lumpia since it was on a Sunday gives [4]
overall - [4] for new po heng's lumpia!

note: New Po Heng Lumpia house is closed on Sundays.

Sayang, I missed you nung New Year celebration. Had to be back home agad to work. Wasn't able to foodtrip save for a very early lunch at Shin Din Kha, a small bowl of the glorious ma ki mi and a serving of goyong. Belated happy new year :D
