paco park cemetery

what used to be a cemetery for the aristocrat during the Spanish colonial period is now a beautiful circular park. it has retained its charm with nice lush green landscape.
i brought my cousin Claire to this cemetery park as she loves historical sites. even from outside the gate, one can appreciate the view of the chapel and the brick walkway.the inner circular wall was built in the late 1700s and was then extended with an outer wall. immediately after Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero, was executed he was interred here but his body was then transferred to Luneta Park.the park walls survived the World War II even when the Japanese soldiers used it as an ammunition depot. today, most of the niches are already empty as they were transferred by their families. it stands as a historical park within the city of Manila.this has a close resemblance to the underground cemetery of Nagcarlan. Paco park cemetery differs though because it has a double circular wall niches with big brick walkways and a circular fountain pool at the center.what made it even more attractive is it has walkway on top of the niches. with mossy bricks and a small bridge way over the gate entrance of the inner wall. making it a great place for wedding photo shoots.if one comes from Taft avenue going to Luneta, just turn right when you reach Padre Faura or General Luna street and from there you can see the circular walls of the park.the park is open from 8:00am till 5:00pm only with a minimal entrance.

Have you seen the photos of the wedding of Kamikazee's lead vocals? It was held at the Paco Cemetery, with black as motiff. Only the bride was wearing white. The Park took center stage there.

I haven't been to that part of Manila, which is just too bad.

By the way, are you not gonna rate this park, the way you did on other places you've been to? I kinda miss that.
