best islands for snorkeling

with 7,107 islands to explore in the Philippines, i recently learned that the Philippines again gained another recognition this year when Dimakya island in Palawan was considered as one of the best islands for snorkeling along with seven other world renowned sites. see article Best Islands for Snorkeling 2009 given by the Islands magazine.i too have seen some of the beautiful snorkeling sites in the Philippines and among my favorite are the Virgin island of Bantayan in Cebu, Anilao in Batangas, Sombrero island in Batangas, Olango island in Cebu, and Malamawi island in Basilan.Palawan's most prestiged island resort Amanpulo was also considered as one of the Best Private Island and Best Islands to Live On. Amanpulo resort occupies the whole island of Pamalican which has its own airstrip.the Philippine islands has a lot of secrets. go explore.

the Philippines sure has a lot of secrets and we have yet to explore them, i just hope that while exploring, we are not abusing them or they can be like the Bora, or Bantayan Island, or even Bohol which is becoming the commercial tourist spots now, from foreigners to locals trying to appreciate the beauty but destructing it all at the same time. We must help preserve the goodness of these places...Thanks for being an advocate on saving our land's tourist destinations dong.

Do you recommend Malamawi island in Basilan? ;-)
Maybe if you want to stay there a bit longer than expected! ;-)

Biro lang!

It is true...the Philippines has the best dive spots in the world!

Wow! All but a Wow Philippines! I have seen some other part of the world and the Philippines is an island paradise on earth. I've seen in your previous post some unexplored island in Quezon. Been there many years ago but those photos I've seen are truly amazing. Truly Wow Philippines, Mabuhay ka Dong for keeping that advocacy. Continue to spread the beauty of Philippines! Deserve to be on top of Seven Wonders of the World.

i agree with you dom, andaming magagandang places dito. like sheng, i just hope we'll be good stewards of these natural wonders.

sidney's note on malamawi is funny. but i've heard of nice spots in the basilan-sulu areas so it's not really a surprise.

basta Dom, pag pupunta ka sa Basilan, sama ako!:D

have you heard of Lopez in Quezon? my neighbor said that there are corals just about 30 meters from the shore.

yup, we should explore the islands, and make sure we are responsible travelers. di nagkakalat.

Lovely Islands. Amanpulo is worth visiting but ultra-expensive though. I remember my former Spanish boss used to visit this Island very often.

The Philippines has so many beautiful places worth exploring. I've only been to a handful of them but there's still plenty of time to travel around the country. Thanks for sharing.

>hi sheng, i agree with you. that's why the local government should be prepared in the travel system before the people flock. i should say that palawan did a good job in terms of handling tourists at the same time protecting the natural resources.

i will definitely support efforts on protecting our natural wonders.

>sidney, hahaha... definitely i don't recommend it. it's nice to hear it from you sid. i wish filipinos will love their country as much as you love it.

>hi nuts, there's just so much to discover and this may be just one way of doing it. but it actually leads me to the idea of finding a way to support advocacy that aims to help preserve these natural wonders. the one in quezon is beautiful! you should try it.

>oggie, that's true. it's also the local government's role to protect those wonders but im sure we too can take part.

sidney knows about it. hahaha... but yes there are really beautiful untouch dive and snorkeling sites there. i can say that by experience. hehehe...

>hi luna, seryoso ka niyan? hehehe... havent heard of lopez. let me check it in google. sounds really good.

we can be travel advocates.

>asian traveler, i believe it's the most expensive resort right now in the philippines. not sure yet how expensive shangrila boracay is yet.

>joshua, tama ka dyan. kaya sanay panatilihin ng mga tao ang pagprotekta nito. ganda talaga.

>hi rachel, that's true. luzon alone has a number of beautiful sites. one just really need to explore.

wow!

That's wonderful news!

I just wish we'd take more care of our coral reefs so there'd be even more beautiful places to snorkel and dive.

sana kahit isa man lang sa mga island na yan makapunta ako. thanks for those amazing shots dom! :)

I'd say Panglao Island in Bohol is also good for snorkeling, been there a lot and Camiguin too. Actually, there are a lot of them here in PI. Wow talaga! Great shots againg dong.

Pero when it comes sa nature and natural resources, marami talagang nakatagong magagandang lugar dito sa atin. out of 7,107 islands, isa na dyan ang hundred islands.

Time to fully shine, Philippines, share with the world your glorious natural resources.

I just hope that these beautiful sights/sites can be preserved as they are despite the increase in tourism/foot traffic, etc.

iba talaga ang Pinas. sana nga mapangalagaan lalo ang kalikasan natin dito. sayang kase. pati yung mga nasira dati, sayang talaga. we have to make up tuloy sa mga forest and sea spots natin. kung naingatan sana, siguro mas marami ang pumupuntang turista dito. buti na lang maganda talaga ang Pinas at meron tayong mga maipagmamalaki pang tourists spot.

nice underwater photos, kuya dong!

What a beautiful place. It does look great for snorkeling. I've only gone snorkeling once and I'll admit it was hard for me to deal with the breathing apparatus.

Hi Dong,

Lovely photos. Yes, Bantayan is very beautiful and not so commercialized like Bora. You may try visit Sipalay Islands in Negros Occidental and some beaches in Dumaguete in Negros Oriental. These are new but offer good sites for snorkeling enthusiasts! Explore Negros. Hehe.
