this year MTV Asia and the Philippine Department of Tourism has team up to promote a radical campaign on one of Asia's most beautiful archipelago. emerging now as Asia's beach capital with a coastline twice that of the United States. last April 22, a group of travel bloggers were invited to an event which discussed the new campaign and some of the upcoming projects. the dinner event was joined by the Philippine Department of Tourism Secretary Ace Durano, Undersecretary Eduardo Jarque Jr., MTV VJ Maggie Wilson, Ms. Yvonne Tey and Mr. Chris Pattinson from MTV, Mr. Eduardo Mapa Jr. and Sherry Magno of Media Contacts, and Mr, Andrew Chan of Second Life.among the bloggers i met there were fellow travel bloggers Allan, Ferdz, Oggie, Eric, Melo and Nina. while it was my first time to meet Jasper, Wence, and Sexy Nomad. fellow bloggers Noemi and Juned were also there.this campaign goes beyond the usual way of showing how beautiful the country is. the use of video vignettes was among the highlight of this campaign as promoted through MTV Revelations. upcoming projects will be featured here like the second life which will be launched this month.a country so diverse in its culture with festivals so colorful like the Moriones, which i recently featured. from extreme adventure to the awesome beaches. not a lot of people has discovered the natural treasures of the Philippines yet. making it a wonder still to be explored.
The videos are amazing. We dont see much promotions of your country on our national TV.
I have to put my travel plans on hold because of the flu. People are quarantined for 7 days if one case is found in the plane or hotel...sigh. In HK, they quarantined the whole hotel guests for 7 days because of one flu case.
Very awesome Philippines we have, sana lang, after we have let the other tourists know of our treasures, they won't be abusing them as to what they did with Bora...
TALAGANG WOW-----i think this is a good project---the department of tourism should really reach out to travel bloggers like you coz you play a very important role in promoting the country here and abroad----- if the DOT could come up with a better website like that of Thailand---a lot better----
then again the role of travel bloggers in exposing unique and remote spots in the country is really priceless-----
it is also our role as ordinary people to come up with beautiful photos of our country---as I always say---having no background in photography whatsoever ---I hope I am not doing INJUSTICE to my country whenever I post pictures of places I happen to visit----
good luck everyone---good luck DOM---everybody should support you with this one.
It's good that they are trying to boost tourism in the Philippines, but there is so much more basic work to be done - like making the transportation system decipherable enough by foreigners or even locals themselves! Seriously, I'd like to get together with the people who have the power to effect changes - including fellow bloggers - and put something together that's practicable and user-friendly.
Just because the Philippines is a developing country doesn't mean that we can't do what other countries are doing right.
I went to Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia recently. They're all developing countries. But travelling in their country was so easy even though I didn't speak the language - simply because they put in place a public transportation system that works!
There are also tourist information centres everywhere. I could go on and on, but I won't. Let's just meet up in June!
Thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come back tomorrow for the Keukenhof series!
Wow owesome Philippines! I wish I could also help support Philippine Tourism... I believe we still have a lot of unexplored but equally interesting sites in the country. Keep it up men!
This is great! An officemate just came back from Corregidor, and she was really impressed. She said that they improved the placed. Super ganda daw. Dami daw foreign tourists. :-)
>hi alicesg, that's sad to know. but it's usually being promoted in living asia and now mtv revelations.
the h1n1 is really affecting the travel industry. i hope it wont worsen though it's already pandemic.
>hi sheng, it's in the system. i think what happened in boracay was they didnt anticipate it or if in case they anticipated it, no one thought of solving it.
>hi photocache, thanks! i really hope that in time, you'll also see our nations wonders.
>hi luna, it's really great. no they wont be paying the bloggers trips. but they have a contest giving a chance for people to win free trips.
>hi wits, that's for the effort of the people behind the project.
>hi tita beng, it was indeed a privilege.
>gillboard, wishing for the same thing here. but maybe it also entails each one of us to take part.
>pusang-gala, i believe the travel bloggers plays a big role as they travel often, see and share their experience. thru this new project im sure, there'll be more opportunities to invite tourists.
i disagree with you on saying that you dont give justice thru your photos, because it's not in the photos alone that we need to share. but it's also the experience of traveling. but you dont have bad photos. trust me.
>hi pacey, i think those words really goes to the team who initiated this. though our role, each one of us, will definitely help.
>hi reena, yes. that's happyslip in the videos because she's also part of this project.
i saw that video and im also impressed. not just the video but the tourism team of camsur. they are really passionate. kudos to them.
>hi dylan, thanks! thanks all to the tourism team. truly awesome.
>allen, great! yes this project has been ongoing and happyslip being part of it is really good.
>rachel, true! true!
>hi chyng, that's one advantage. i believe it's still cheap to travel around the country.
>hi joy, i agree. that's something that the country still needs to improve. getting around the country is cheap but the system is still unstable.
we'll discuss this with some of the team in tourism. thanks for the inputs.
we'll definitely move forward when we'll see everyone helping out to improve things. i hope more and more people will give feedback.
>antoini, not sure about that but the way they do it, we saw sincerity and passion. this campaign actually has a wider scope and focuses more on the asian and other nearby countries and less of the local tourists. though it also helps.
>hi tita beng, thanks for dropping by.
>burn, thanks for dropping by. ill definitely pass by your blog.
>dennis, thanks! i believe you are also helping out through your travel posts.
>redlan, maraming maraming salamat. kakahumble naman.
>asiantraveler, yes. i met jasper there. thanks! with a positive mindset, im sure it will. so we'll do our best.
>mordsmith, i agree. look forward for more campaigns and projects. it was a privilege to be part of this.
>lavern, it;s not too late. im sure you, who've been to the many beautiful places around the country, will be of great help. we will update you of upcoming projects.
>hi napaboaniya, we enjoyed the whole time there. nice to know that you liked the videos. tell me if you have a plan to visit the philippines.
enjoy your special day!
>hi andy, that's great to know! developments like that definitely help. hoping for more developments on different tourist spots.
wohoo! ibang level na talaga tayu no! dati wow philippines ngayon ay awesome philippines na!! astig! let us all support this campaign! i will travel the entire phil soon! ^^
Very nice info Dong. I'm really glad that photo bloggers like yourself are contributing so much to the education of people like myself even, of how beautiful our country is :)Thanks
Very clean not like in Quiypu."
