all smiles - caracol festival makati

it was pass three in the afternoon, when i heard the drums beating from afar. i came from Antipolo that day and was quite excited to witness the Caracol Festival of Makati.colorful costumes filled the urban city of Makati on that day. this festival was formed to promote awareness in the importance of the environment.students from the different schools in Makati displayed the many colors which highlights the colorful world of nature.the parade begun by around four just in time that i was able to take shots while they were still at the assembly area.the Caracol festival like most of the other festivals in the Philippines, is a dance competition that interprets the hope to save our environment.it was not as intense as the popular festivals of Dinagyang and Sinulog, yet if we look back, all the festivals started this way. the groups didn't perform much during the parade, which made it difficult to capture the action.the main performance was conducted on a big platform yet less people having the chance to see it that clos. hopefully the organizers will improve it next year. this was taken last Janaury 18.[what you shouldn't miss there]>>> the colorful costumes and the beautiful smiles of the performers.
[why i should go back] >>> to simply celebrate and enjoy the festival.

Wow, that looks like so much fun. I love the colorful costume and the radiant smiles too. That's great that it was formed to promote awareness about the environment.

>photo cache, from january till february puno talaga ng festival ang pilipinas.

>hi chyng, yes ito nga yon. colorful din ito. sana makapunta ka next year.

>bryan, pansin ko din na hindi nila masyadong na-promote itong caracol. hahaha... bat ka naman mahihiya?

excited na rin ako na makasama kayo sa pinatubo. welcome din ang iba. just send me their complete name and i already gave mel my contact number.

no problem. bisita ka lang pag may time.

>carver, yes. even before the global warming issue has become this big, there was already a festival like this.

Very colorful, sparkling and interesting sequence of pictures!
It's amazing that many of these students posed for you!

I went there a few years ago and enjoyed it very much.
They are just school children so we shouldn't expect too much about the dancing part but the costumes are great and all participants are full of enthusiasm.

ang saya naman dyan! naaalala ko tuloy ng ako ay nasa pre school nagdamit bulaklak din ako eh! well, it is to promote of course our environment! it's about time anyway!

>cebuimage, sure. ill add you up.

>borneo, filipinas are really beautiful!

>hi hilda, it was last january 18. i think it was not promoted well. i only knew it from some of my travel buddies.

>aris, salamat. makulay nga talaga ang caracol at masaya ang mga tao doon. pag araw ng makati may street dancing din.

>luke, thanks!

>the islander, hahaha... maybe at least twice a year nagpaparada doon. isa yung araw ng makati.

>tink, beautiful in the eyes.

>hi napaboaniya, you'll definitely enjoy it because of the smile that they give to the visitors.

>theonoski, ganda talaga. makulay ang buhay sa makati.

>pietro, maybe that's because of the filipino hospitality. smile is free here.

>sidney, i agree. the smiles alone makes it a happy festival. i just hope that they'll make a bigger or elevated stage to allow more people to watch it.

>cyndirellaz, hahaha... yan ang astig. uso nga ito sa mga field demonstrations.

Hey Dom.

Really? This was just in Makati? Very, very nice. And the costumes and masks all looked like expensive. :)

What does Caracol mean? Btw, fiestas are usually done to celebrate the "feasts" of the Sto. Nino, saints, etc. I wonder if there is a more politically correct term for these kinds of festivals. :)

Dang, where was I when this happened again? Oh, yeah, cooped up in my office just a block away. Darn I wish I had the work schedule of normal people.

The colors are so lovely, you captured them well. I also love the smiles of the young people here. They seem to be really happy and although that makes me feel a wee bit old, it's still so nice to look at them.
