left ashore - dingalan aurora

our guide led us to a site to see a more beautiful view of the coastline of Dingalan but what caught my attention was the ship docked along where we were to shoot the coastline.getting around a ship was something i missed doing. for quite sometime now, this ship has been unrepaired due to worn out mechanical parts.most of its parts were already rusty making it a masterpiece to me. Lawstude, Orlan and i explored the ship from all perspective.kids came after us since it was their playground. very similar to my experience because i grew up near the areas where cranes and trucks are parked. big people see it as a huge useless machine, kids as we were that time see it as a huge complex playground. perfect for climbing!we entered the captain's den and even reached the topmost deck. according to the caretaker of the ship, they are still hoping that it will soon be repaired. for the meantime, i should say that it's an amazing photo subject.[what you shouldn't miss there]>>> climbing up and exploring the boat's deck.
[why i should go back] >>> to just get in touch with the very friendly people of Dingalan.

This is an old rusty landing craft. Wonder why it is not scrapped for money by the owner

It looks like it's beyond repair now. I wonder how it looks when it's new and in its prime.

Makes me think about old age...hehe. There goes my imagination again. Better stop.

thanks for sharing DonG

oh i think this is beyond repair.

not a safe playground for the kids too. kakatakot ang tetanus ah.

>borneo, yes it is. they still hope that itll be repaired.

>hi em, yes it indeed looks like that but according to the caretaker they still have positive thoughts to see it voyaging.

hahaha... no need to think about that.

>hi reena, they believe it will still work if some of its parts be repaired and replaced.

>bw, it definitely is. it also provides elevation.

>bert, hehehe... pinabayaan mo lang kasi.

>gillboard, cool talaga. gandang photo subject.

>uncleawang, thanks!

>bengbeng, hahaha... true!

>hi vic, enjoy talaga. enjoy sa pag akyat sa barko.

>hi ailee, hehehe... not so creepy because it's just small although there's a room there that's really dark. thanks!

>luke, hmmm... not sure. according to the caretaker, it can still be repaired.

>hi napaboaniya, you said it right!

Davamerce said...

Mabuti naman, bawat step mo okey pa.

nakakatakot kasi...
pero ang ganda ng mga kuha mo!

anu kaya hitsura ng boat na ito dati noong ok pa siya for sure it looks like a ship pero ngayun mukha na siyang ghist ship! just joking!

SandyCarlson said...

I wish that boat could talk. It seems sad and lonely looking. I think you are brave to have boarded it to get these haunting photos. Great work, which is always the case!

Joy said...

Scary! You better make sure you've got your tetanus shots in order.

>hi kimmy, thanks too for dropping by. let's keep in touch.

>dede, it was not that difficult the only challenging part there was to climb up the damaged vertical steel ladder.

>sidney, it indeed looks like that. i agree that it's one good subject.

>hi sandy, thanks! you gave those thoughts which i in one way agree.

>hi joy, it was not dangerous since we havent seen sharp objects but we still did it with caution.

Great shots. Galing!!!

A fine, informative series of this rusty ship. I can see how it would be a great area to play in and for photographers a mecca of picture opportunities. Fine series.

the boat is creepy. baka ma tetanus ka jan.

Unknown said...

this old rusty boat is a good backdrop for a photo shoot of... hunks in swimwear (haha)! but you're right, this is an interesting playground for kids. medyo di lang sya safe...

You really took advantage of the rusty parts. Fantastic shots, well done!

honestly... i got scared when i saw this photo.. because of the rust...

I agree with you.. for kids, this is their heaven...

Talking about your photos: I use to say that boats are tresure chests for photographers. In each corner, in each detail, there's a potential great image...and your photos are the proof that I'm right :)

this sure is a nice subject. =)

makalawang...pero ang ganda ng pagkakuha! Excellent!!!

alicesg said...

Fantastic shot of the old ship. Isn't this a dangerous place for the kids to play in. All the rust and sharp parts could be dangerous.

Nice shots with the rusty ship. :) Umaasa pa ba silang mapapaayos yung ship?

Despite its sad state, I find the ship beautiful. I think it's perfect for fashion shoots, like those they do for Vogue or GQ. :-)

nice shots dong ;-) there's something so melancholic about an abandoned ship.

hey, too bad we weren't able to meet up last xmas. you still want your book thing?

Pietro Brosio said...

It's a good subject for very interesting photos indeed. But I think it needs to be repaired as soon as possible.
Have a nice week ahead!

By the way, you are tagged! :)

HI DONG, ganda ng shots mo. Kahit everything is rusty yet ang ganda ng presentation mo dito. :) by the way, i'm posting soon my pics with Xcelerator: The Fastest, Longest and Tallest Zipline in Asia.

I love the rusty pics, very cool indeed, I have always wanted to live in a ship, haha, kaso naghiwalay kami ng ex ko, haha, seaman kasi yun...no regrets though!

Anonymous said...

that old boat are so refreshing..pwede ka ng magpahinga dyan..hehe

RedLan said...

Pero sa photography is a great subject as what you did.

Anonymous said...

lumang-luma na nga yung ship. reminds me of Titanic. hehe. pero maganda din sigurong tumambay sa ganyang ship.

pet said...

Nyl said...

wow!parang Titanic..hehe!seriously, this old wrecked ship must have its own story to tell.

carlotta1924 said...

as a kid i would have enjoyed playing in this ship. but i've certainly aged and would most prolly say to the kids, "naku, puro kalawang! baka matetano kayo!" hehehe :)

but seriously, i like junk heaps like this one. makes up for really good exploration :)

Anonymous said...

Grace said...

Careful, Dong. May anti-tetanus shot ka na ba? Nakakatakot naman yang barko na yan.
Remember, life is fragile kaya... :)

However you have done something great (take a photo on board).

Joe Narvaez said...

interesting shipwreck...i hope the kids don't get injured by the rusty parts!

I love the RORO, I have always ride in the ROR hen going to Samar.

The ferry you rode on looks very old. I just hope that the owners can renovate this ferry as it can pose a hazard to passengers.

>hi carver, thanks a lot!

>hi jeanny, thanks too for dropping by. keep in touch.

>don, that's true! that's why i loved that boat.

>chaospilot, thanks a lot! not that dangerous as there were less pointed metals in the ship. thanks for dropping by.

>deped teacher, i already added you on my blogroll since last week. i used mentor as your link name.

>rajesh, thanks a lot!

>jm, yes i did!

>hi mimi, it seems dangerous but when you're there it's not. you'll see the kids running so it's relatively safe.

>l.reis, boats are surely treasure chests for photographers. even small wooden boats that you've featured in your blog are really impressive.

>pao, i agree.

>hi jei, thanks a lot! in fact it's that rusty color that made it a very interesting subject.

>hi alicesg, dangerous but not as you see it. there are no sharp metals there so it's relatively safe.

some of the chinese people celebrate it here but not that big as many still consider january 1 as the new year. kung hei fat choy!

>hi mel, yes. umaasa pa sila sabi ng caretaker.

>andy, really!? you're the second person to have said that.

>hi caryn, yes i still want it but if it'll take you an extra time and charge for that, no problem. i can wait till your next trip. thanks a lot!

>pietro, they wish that it can still be repaired but hopefully they'll have to pass and undergo all the proper inspection before it sets out.

>hi mel, thanks! ill check it out.

>hi sheng, hahaha... pwede pa rin naman kayo bumyahe sa barko ngayon. tamang tama may bumabyahe pa namang barko from gensan to manila via zamboanga and iloilo.
