pinta figura - masskara festival

the masskara festival does not only celebrate Bacolod's charter day with a street dancing. it also has a line of activities around the city running from the first week of October until the third week. among the special activities we were able to witness was the La Consolacion College (LCC) Pinta Figura, a body painting and headdress annual competition. the contestants were all students of this college who are taking up Fine Arts. there were 12contestants in this year's competition. their goal was to create their best imagination of representing the masskara festival thru body painting and mask design. this was not on our itinerary but since i was in that mall on that day, we decided to watch it. we already grabbed the opportunity to at least see this because we were scheduled to be back in Manila before the Masskara Festival which happens this weekend.i never thought that Bacolod's creativity has already reached this far. this festival is indeed a must-see for all Filipinos and foreigners. to all Negrenses, congratulations!

lol. yesterday we had the pinta figura competition again..., this time, instead of pairing up, we students have done it individually, which means there was about 20+ entries...

this event is actually our final exam for our subject called "life drawing"..its kind of a human anatomy thing :)

every year, the fine arts students in bacolod have a certain competition they should join in for their finals, like this pinta figura(which is for 2nd year fine arts students) and another called alta costura (which is for 3rd year students).

and guess what, we only have a week to think of a design and do the headdress. some even do everything on the spot!

please come every masskara festival every year so you could witness how the creative minds of the people here work.

peace out!! ;)
