the Camsur Watersports Complex is the best watersports complex in the country today. it is also believed to be among the first in Asia. big international wakeboard competitions were already held here which includes the WWA Wake Park World Championship 2008. ESPN was there to cover the competition.
world known wakeboarders like Tom Fooshee, Nick Taylor, Philip Soven, Dean Smith, Sam Collins and some other players made the competition tough and challenging. you can check out the official website here.
this watersports complex is also getting popular in the Philippines. more and more Filipinos are getting into this sports as they compete in these competitions. in our case, we simply wanted to give it a try and see if we'll get into this type of sport.
all shots here features wakeboarding. i was not able to get a shot of kneeboarding because i was having a great time kneeboarding.
before getting on the board, an orientation will first be given to the first timers. that includes us. for first timers they require that we do kneeboarding instead of wakeboarding. kneeboarding will initiate the experience and will also give you the feel of being pulled by a cable while on top of the board.
you'll be required to use life vest and a head gear. you can rent this from the entrance lobby which also includes the type of board that you'll be using.
a short orientation includes how to hold on the pulling rope, the right position during the start, the proper way to turn on curves, what to do when we are detached from the pulling rope and how to protect yourself when you fall from your board from the incoming boarder that follows right after you.
after a ten-minute orientation, we were now set to go. you'll fall in line as you wait for your turn. during your first time, you'll have a mix feeling of excitement and fear because you can't estimate the pulling force.
you'll wait for the red signal light on top of the framework to turn blue which means "go".
on my first round, i survived the take off and the feeling was really really good. but when i reached the first turn, i was detached from the rope and found myself sinking in the seven-feet deep water arena.
first rule is don't panic as you will really sink. you need to detach yourself from the board and swim along with your board. you need to go to the surface immediately to avoid incoming wakeboarders.
from our group, only one out of seven was able to complete one round. after falling down, you'll have to go back to the line and wait for your turn again. with the fall, we became more excited to try again.
on our second try, everyone was able to complete each round. every after round, you'll find yourself so excited to do it again. but you need a little time to rest to catch your breath from adrenalin rush.
if you listen and follow the instructions during the orientation, you'll notice that it's not that hard. as much as i wanted to try do wakeboarding (standing position), my arms after four rounds are already stressed.
we decided to do wakeboarding the next time. but the kneeboarding itself is already fulfilling. one hour is enough for first timers. you'll also find your self exhausted if you still try to go beyond your body's limit.
next post are some tips to optimize your experience at the Camsur Watersports Experience.

That looks like so much fun but hard. Makes me wish I was 20 years younger. Exciting shots.
hah! never written tagalog like that straight in a long time.
>hi carver, hahaha... yes. it requires a bit of agility.

It looks fun, but I wouldn't be very good!
Hi Dong! Naku bigla naman ako naexcite sa kneeboarding :) Can't wait for next weekdend!

This is so cool and you have captured all the shots beautifully :)
I can see what a great time you guys were having.....oh I wanna be there too :D
wellknown pala tong cwc internationally. ano ba ang feeling ng first timer sa kneeboarding? am sure, the following day nakaranas ka ng pananakit ng katawan pero next time wala na yun.
Nice sequence. It looks very amusing but rather difficult!
I'm waiting with interest for your next sport posts.
The complex looks good and well equip with all the wake-boarding necessities :)
With a good way to relieve stress from wake-boarding, there's no need to use my method :P lol
Happy Weekend Dong!!
that looks exciting.
i want to try it, unfortunately for me Im far from something with water in it, not even close to any board, oh wait... there's a rope in here... i saved it for my ____ but will instead now use it for something positive.
better yet, maybe Wii has it?
ASTIG!
Definitely not something for me, I'll hit the water like bricks and probably lost consciousness killing myself in the process. [Hehe!]
Oh wow! This looks fun! I have a water sports complex near my house and it has wakeboarding too. I should go try it. :)
wow, tsuy.
you've been all over the nas.
wow..you actually tried that?
also want to try that one pero matatagalan pa siguro.
hey swell! we have this in Spore too. & I haven tried it yet.
Won't try it myself because I would surely break my neck... but I love to watch them speed along. I like to stop on my way to the beach and watch the kite-boarders in the bay for a few minutes. They do flips and tricks in the air, and the kites are so colorful.

Sinubukan mo ba? Mukhang challenging pero nakakatuwa.

hi the dong,
we went to CamSur last March. kaso naman inuna namen ang Caramoan Peninsula (setting ng Survivor France).. So we are planning to go back there to try this sports complex.
how much ang use of facility?
i hope someday ma-try din namin- buong familya.
This is really great that the water sport are getting exploited there. we are blessed to have a country who could accomodate this type of sport.
Is the price reasonable? Hope so.Me, i don't think i could keep my stand on a that board.
I was pathetically doing wind surfing last summer.wake boarding it so speedy for my ageing knees.
