buildings to sugar canes

leaving Metro Manila on a 7:55am flight was quite relaxing compared to the earliest flights. it was my first time inside the new airport terminal 3 and it was quite comfortable to line up in an airport that has enough space for travelers going to the different islands of the country. the system is bettter than the old domestic airport.only a part of this large airport is being used today as some parts of the airports are still being inspected and repaired from the controversies behind its construction.we checked in two hours before our flight so i had the chance to walk around. there are few coffee food shops within the terminal.plane departed on time and the sky was cloudy in Metro Manila.when we were approaching Negros island, view shifted from buildings to lands densely covered with sugar canes.it was a sign that we were now in Negros Occidental. the plane landed around 9:04am at the New Bacolod - Silay Airport in Silay. the runway is surrounded by sugar canes.weather here was a little gloomy. this airport is about 30-45minutes from the Bacolod town center.last time i visited this place was in 1999, making this trip quite special for me. this post begins the Western Visayas series of eskapo 2.0.

So I guess it's safe to assume that they've finally sorted out things with Cebupac? I haven't flown out of the new terminal yet but I've heard the horror stories when they first opened.

>hi isabetlog, yes. medyo stable na ang system nung dumaan kami. we already used the tubes to board the plane.

>raft3r, fine here. we eat a lot. visit places and less time resting.

>hi vanny, wow! kaya lang sa october ko pa yan makukuha. nasa visayas pa ako ngayon. reserve mo lang yan.

The airport looked clean and nice. I saw the good compliments from the TV here about the airport. The view from the plane looked lovely. You sure travelled a lot and I guess you must have a wonderful time. :)

I cant recall what the Manila airport looked like 3 years back when I last drop by. THe new terminal sure looks swanky and modern. What's the purpose of this trip?

Very nice, futuristic and clean airport. Sure won't be a problem if I have to spend a night or two!

The new terminal looks very modern and quite nice. A welcome change from the old NAIA Terminal 1 and the old domestic airports. Those two airports need to be demolished.

I love these shots. The lighting inside the airport creates a surreal effect. You sure do capture the atmosphere well!

Thanks for the airport pictures. Dick and I are both pilots, but we mainly see small airports in our personal flights.

first time ko din nakita naia 3 last week dom. ang laki ng luga medyo na miss ko lang yung mga food stand sa old terminal kasi halos wala na mapagpilian na stall sa naia 3 eh, siguro dadami din yon in the future.

ayos to, can't wait for your posts in western visayas.

mabuti naman at napaganda na ang airport NAIA 3 para naman hindi nakakahiya sa mga torista na pumupunta dito sa ating bansa.
agree ako kay Joshua-hindi rin ako maniwala na hindi malaki ang nakurakot dyan

when we went to silay last month, the tubes weren't working yet. good to know ok na siya. the airport admin should thoroughly inspect the place lang nga as may mga parts ng ceiling na seems to be leaking. sayang at maganda pa naman ang airport :-) ingat sa paglibot bro!
