noontime fishing

it was at noontime when i was at the lake and i noticed that people are either having a picnic, driving a bike, swimming or fishing. imagine the heat today ,which sometimes reaches 35 degrees Celsius, yet you'll see these people fishing.people walking with fishing rods, setting up their baits along the lake shore is a common scene in Sampalok lake on a weekend.some do it for a living while others enjoy it as a leisure. kids also had their own time of spending time with the lake by making improvised boats made up of styrofoam.
the sinking of the boat Princess of the Stars in the coast of Sibuyan island might have affected the sales of fishes in Luzon but not in Sampalok lake as they rely more on the fresh water fishes.being an archipelago with 7,107islands with several bodies of water within the islands, it shows that a large number of Filipinos depend their living in fishing. next to biking and fishing around the lake, i highly recommend jogging. specially for people who seek to loose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. so here's a guide from the local officials of San Pablo for those who wants to jog around Sampalok lake:

Circumference: 3.7kilometers
Activity -------- Fast -------- Slow
Walk -----------35mins ------ 42mins
Jog -------------22mins -------30mins
Run ------------16mins -------19mins

San Pablo city might not be the best place to be, but it's worth visiting for a day trip.

Another interesting post with many great pictures.
(I like your comment on my Sky Watch: it was a morning with cloudy sky and the effect is really dark!).
Have a nice weekend.

>pietro, thanks! that was actually my first reaction when i saw the photo.

>quinttarantino, thanks!

escape said...

>hi sandy, that's really hot!

fishing requires patience, and i have very little, kapag ginawa ko yan baka makatulog ako hehe.

i remember sampalok lake, legend has it that one can find sampalok trees at the bottom of the lake or at least, what remains of them.

I have been to some fisheries and it's hard work. The fishermen have to soak themselves in water most of the time.

The Islander said...

escape said...

>hi karen, thanks a lot!

>abou, sinabi mo. preskong presko pag nasa ilalim ng kahoy.

>hi eastcoastlife, true! they are already used to it.

>hi equi, salamat!

i agree. majority of filipinos still thrive on fishing being an archipelago.

another impressive post dong.

Tama! I think even for just a daytrip it's worth a visit. Just to stroll around and spend time.

RedLan said...

hahaha. d ami nga pero walang time. once lang ako nakapagjogging dito. mas kewl kapag marami kang kasabay.

escape said...

>lawstude, maraming salamat!

Great shots. Fishing is something my hubby misses doing. I'll show his this post and perhaps he will be inspired to go fishing again. I'm sure it would be a fun family activity.

KRIS JASPER said...

i have only done fishing once, and i hope to do it again soon.

Panaderos said...

Nice shots and ang sarap mag-fishing. Mukhang very relaxing. :) Pards, gaano kalayo ito from Manila in terms of number of hours' drive?

Leoj said...

Very nice compositions and concepts. :) Maganda talaga sa Pinas! Anyway, I'll be glad if we could ex-link. :)

>stanley, yes. i think you really should schedule it sooner! hehehe...

>hi rachel, really? this will definitely be a good place. you have all the lake shore that you need.

>panaderos, it's more or less 2hours. without traffic it only took us 1hour and 45minutes from san pablo to makati.

>leoj, ganda nga talaga. sure. adding you on my blogroll.

>hi carver, thanks! yes it is. you have a two lane road where less vehicles pass by. perfect for jogging with trees as shade.

>hi lalaine, oo nga sana makasama naman kayo kaya lang all expense charge nga lang. hehehe... see you soon.

malamang sa aquarium talagang sigurado kang makakahuli. hehehe...
