from coastlines to hills

the farthest town that i reached in Cebu's northern area is the town of Carmen. so this time i decided to visit an island in the far northern part of Cebu, the island of Bantayan. i only see it in the pictures and it really entices me.so this year, i was lucky enough because we had a conference in Cebu which gave me the chance to extend my stay and visit this island. we took the regular bus at the Cebu North Bus Terminal. the bus left around 7:35am. the travel was not tiring because we get to see small towns on one side and the coastline on the other side. you get to see small beach resorts. after an hour ride, we had our first stop at the Hillside terminal for a 15-minute break.after the stop over, we noticed that we are now crossing the mountainous area of Cebu. from beach, the view shifted to a scenic greeny hills. the mountains provides fresh air in this area making it even more soothing to travel and the road was well maintained. we traveled for about an hour with such view and arrived on our next short stop over on the town of Bogo at around 10:05am. then immediately traveled for our final 20minute road trip to Hagnaya port, where the ferry that will take us to the island docks. we arrived at the Hagnaya port at 10:25am and guess how much it cost us for the 3hour-trip of scenic coastlines and hills from Cebu city to Hagnaya port. P55! yes just P55 or roughly $1.25.

next post will be our ferry trip to Bantayan island.

Looks like the view was beautiful and made the bus ride go by more quickly.

bw, it's one of the best trip i've had. better than traveling in SLEX and NLEX.

Acey, i really had a great time there. i didn't know Cebu is very beautiful. before, i was only amazed with the big resort and hotels in the city, Cebu's history and other landmarks not knowing that it actually offers more things in its other towns and islands. my next target is camotes island.

luke, thanks!

hi karen, the truth is, i never thought the travel took 3hours because we were enjoying it.

rayts, i hope this will help you see a bit of bantayan island. i really recommend that you visit cebu. specially its nearby islands.

redlan, ganun na nga. buti na lang medyo nasa second raw kami sa bus kaya kita kahit papaano ang both sides. keep in touch.

That's a pretty cheap price to pay for a drive along the coast lines!! Especially with such good scenic views! :)

hi maya, that's great! at least it's like you were with us there. the bangka shot was taken during our island hopping. the water is really clear. sana makapunta ka doon by the time na uuwi ka.

dakilang islander, talaga? anong town nyo doon? Is it Catmon or Sogod? kakamiss nga itong lugar na ito. kahit hindi ako taga doon pero when im in Cebu it makes me feel like im a Cebuano. hehehe... the next time ill visit Cebu, I'll go to Camotes islands.

napaboaniya, very very cheap with the gas price soaring and i like the simple life of the people in the island.

Sumakay ako ng motor boat in Ortiz wharf) @ 10:45 am at nakarating kami ng Jordan, Guimaras wharf @ exactly 11:00am. Almost 15 of travel from Iloilo pantalan to wharf of Guimaras Island. The fare is 11php lang naman. It was a 15 minute prayer @ 11:30am. And second prayer nila ay 12:30pm.

copy-paste lang yan sa previous post ko dahil draft na siya ngayon.

Last year, when I was in Cebu for a youth congress, pupunta sana ako ng bantayan island para sa white beaches dun. hai. sayang wla na kasi akong oras noon kasi may pasok pa the following week. Hope soon, makapunta na tlga ako doon.

>redlan, maraming salamat. hindi naman pala ganun ka layo. looks like a really good place to visit. kala ko kasi guimaras can only offer beaches and tasty sweet mangoes.

>aethen, sayang naman! make sure you don't miss it next time. the island is really really nice. the shortest time that you need if you go to bantayan would be two days.

no problem for exlinks but i can't access your profile. plaese just send me or post your blog link.

thanks!

>ceblogger, it's one of the best islands that i've visited. i like the simple living in this island and i hope that it won't be like boracay in the future.

jasper, enjoy na enjoy. i really had a good good time in that island.

wandering commuter, hahaha... aga ko naman magretire. just a good timing. sana makapunta ka doon and i recommend that you visit bantayan island rather than roaming in the city kasi parang manila na rin. but the city offers many things as well.

vanny, yes. ang linis ng place and it looks safe. make sure to include bantayan island in your iteneraries when you visit cebu.

I've always wanted to go to Bantayan, hearing many good things about it. the nearest i've been was in Bogo.

Panaderos said...

I haven't been to Cebu but from what I've seen in all the pictures not only from this blog but on others, the island is such a gem. I take my hat off to the Cebuanos for showing immense pride and care for their island. They have a lot to be proud of and rightly so.

escape said...

>r-yo, bantayan is just about an hour and a half to bantayan. you should have grabbed the chance.

>panaderos, i agree with that. the cebuanos are really proud of their place and who they are. cebu is rich in history, in its industry, international hotels and resorts and promising islands to visit.

i hope you'll be able to visit it sometime in the future.
