fare increase

as the gas prices increases the profit of a typical public utility jeepney driver decreases. it's already the third time that the gas price increased in just three weeks. but jeepney and bus fares are expected to rise by Wednesday (May 21).photo is taken in one of jeepney's money hole.

At night? (onga, nightscape nga eh hehe). hmmmm I see just one 20 pesos and all coins, I remember a story about how myhubby as a kid would take coins from the school service's money hole lol...

Is that where a passenger places his ticket fare? :)
Well, even with the increasing gas prices, isn't it still cheaper to use public transport oppose ones personal car? If public transport takes you to the needed destination, that is.
What does it cost in Philippines to use the city busses/jeepneys?

we're really shaded with clouds of hopelessness. what with rising of the basic commodities plus increase in gas price. and we have to expect PUVs fares to rise. we cant blame drivers and operators to demand for fare increase. we're getting nowhere.. tsk.. tsk.. lahat tayo, talo.. urgh!

wow! i love this last pic. i really wish i have a camera that can capture night pics.

I also checked your shoots on Ferdz' exhibit. How I wish I can see his works. I am a fan of his.

btw, thanks for the visit and the vote!

I have heard from the news yesterday that fare on passenger jeepney will increase by P0.50 starting May 21, 2008. Mahal na ang lahat dito sa pilipinas. huhuhu.....

Chain reaction... the poor drivers have to make money somehow. Who bears the brunt of it all ? We the consumers, duh :(

I just heard on the news that gas here is sixty cents higher than it was this time last year.

Great photo! That is trusting for someone to let you take a photo of their money stash.

hai, tataas na naman ang pamasahe.

hi gizelle, hahaha... that's funny. i even heard stories of kids taking coins also in the church love offering. that's worst.

hi laura, that's where the driver is putting the coins but not the passenger. different jeepneys have different styles of money box. i'll feature the different jeepneys next month.

yes. public transport is still cheaper and it is available on almost all the major roads and highways. the normal fare for taking a non aircon bus and jeepney is about $.20 and aircon bus cost $.25 for a regular route. it is still cheaper.

richard, i agree but we still have hope (umaasa pa talaga... hehehe). maybe we just have to adjust our lifestyle in the same way the U.S. is doing in this time of crisis.

ceblogger, you can use a typical digital camera for nightshots. i'm using an old Sony P-series camera. i'm sure you can take shots like this. many look up to ferdz because he is really good at it. maybe when you'll get to visit manila.

dave, true. kaya let's promote commuting and carpooling.

donspink, if the increase will be 50centavos that will still be ok. i hope it will only be that high. mahal na nga talaga ang mga commodities.

bw, exactly. wala din namang increase sa mga kumpanya kapag nagtataas ang gasolina kaya sa atin talaga mapupunta ang effect. ganun na nga lang yata talaga. let's hope for future rollback.

hi karen, the gas price increase is worldwide. so we don't have a control on this.

yes. the driver allowed me to take his money stash. i like this one because the typical money stash here looks like a box but with this one it's more of a stash. thanks!

Everybody is really having a hard time now, it's crazy how the gas price have been continually increasing.
The hard fact is the one who are really in difficult situation are really in unimaginable place nowaday. I can't even imagine how they stretch their income to survive.

I remember a friend of mine who works as a manager at one of the Oil companies here, gas prices will increase very week until 1st of June. Ouch!

What of us then. Kung sweldo nag tataas din tulad nun mas masaya ano?

hi meikah, thanks. i just noticed that the light effect makes the money stash look good.

that's right. school bus will most likely be affected.

hi lyzius, thanks. simple everyday destinations can be special when you see it in a right perspective.

hi maya, yes. the less fortunate are the ones highly affected by this. but they are tough! they can travel long distance places just by walking.

ferdz, right coz it is now happening. i hope that there will be a rollback on the gas prices.

travel cost increases while salary remains the same. now we have more than enough reason to work really really hard.

Every day it seems the price changes here. It is a frightening thing. People who don't have a lot of money will suffer the most--they already are.

hi sandy c, we really hope that gas price will have a rolloback in the coming months.

hi doc rio, hindi naman siguro aabot ng P20 within this year (pero hindi imposible).

sa front seat nga ako nakaupo nyan. konti na nga yang barya ni manong tapos kalat pa. hehehe... yung iba kasi may maayos na box talaga.

ifoundme, yes. thanks. i have no other digital camera (except for the one in my cellhpone). i only use the same camera for all the photos posted here.

lawstude, hahaha...
